The B.Des (Hons) Fashion Design & Technology programme offers a future-focused, studio-led approach to contemporary fashion design, integrating creative exploration with strong technical and technological grounding. Students develop ideas through original research, material experimentation, and hands-on making, while building a rigorous understanding of the design process and emerging fashion technologies. The curriculum supports the development of an individual design voice alongside professional expertise across pret, couture, structured wear, lingerie, and intimate wear, complemented by critical and contextual studies that engage with global fashion systems, material innovation, and sustainable practices—preparing graduates to be culturally aware, commercially relevant, and industry ready.
On completion, graduates can pursue careers in fashion design, product development, fashion technology, and creative leadership across luxury, premium, and mass-market sectors.
The curriculum offers a rigorous and holistic foundation in fashion design, integrating core competencies such as fabric analysis, garment construction, illustration, styling, and a comprehensive understanding of the design process across research, ideation, prototyping, and evaluation. Students receive specialised training in pret, couture, structured wear, lingerie, and intimate wear, strengthening their command over fit, form, support, and advanced construction. Technological modules introduce industry-specific software, smart textile applications, and sustainable design frameworks, ensuring a balance between creative innovation and technical precision. By engaging with global market dynamics and contemporary fashion ecosystems, students develop the capacity to design with cultural relevance and commercial intelligence.
