Overview

The B.Des (Hons.) Game Design and Simulation program focuses on cultivating skilled storytellers adept in digital environments and emerging technologies such as AI, VR, XR, and Simulation. Students delve into programming foundations essential for game development and game engine techniques to leverage evolving technologies like Virtual World Building, XR, Advanced VFX, and Simulation. The program aims to approach game design and simulation holistically, combining game theory with creative and technical skills through extensive classes, design projects, and industry experiences. With state-of-the-art facilities including a cutting-edge design lab and VR and Simulation studio, students engage in industry-driven projects for firsthand experience of real-world practices. Simulation design projects aim to enhance safety standards across industries, particularly in healthcare, aviation, and defense sectors.

Program Curriculum

Through a student-centered, project-based curriculum, students develop specialist skills within interdisciplinary teams, collaborating with peers from various UID programs. They gain expertise in creative and technical areas such as VR, XR, and AI, with two internships at gaming studios providing hands-on experience in meeting professional standards and deadlines. Alongside technical proficiency, students also develop cognitive and non-technical skills like decision-making, teamwork, communication, ethics, and professionalism. The Game Design & Simulation Programme covers research and development, concept design, storytelling, player behavior, and psychology, integrating inputs from fine arts and cognitive sciences. Utilizing cutting-edge software and hardware including Adobe Suite, Maya, Blender, Unreal, Unity, Tilt Brush, Resolume, Cintiq Systems, VR labs, and Motion capture, students engage in hands-on workshops and assignments. UID’s masterclasses by industry experts ensure students stay updated on the latest developments beyond the curriculum updates.
