Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), Karnavati University, recently hosted a vibrant and immersive induction programme for its newly admitted students across various disciplines. Held between 8th to 12th July 2025, the orientation was carefully curated to introduce students to the ethos of UID, ignite creativity, and build a strong sense of community.
Day 1: A Grand Welcome to Design Dreams
The induction commenced with a ceremonial Ganesh Vandana and lamp lighting, setting a warm and auspicious tone. Addresses by key academic leaders — including the Director of Foundation Department, Heads of Institutes, Departmental HODs, and the Director of Academic Administration — welcomed students into the UID family.
Students also got introduced to university-wide initiatives such as KUSGC, KIFF, and KCEIL, followed by an interactive campus tour and documentation activities. The day concluded with “Dil Dosti etc.”, an informal gathering to encourage peer bonding through music, dance, and shared experiences.
Day 2: Engaging Minds Through Expression
The second day was filled with creativity and movement. Students participated in dynamic workshops such as:
- • Udaan: A contemporary dance workshop focused on freedom and self-expression.
- • Theatre for Life: An introspective and collaborative session blending performance and life skills.
- • Smartphone Photography, Puppetry, and Kalari-Contemporary Fusion workshops allowed students to explore storytelling and visual artistry in innovative formats.
Day 3: Immersing in India’s Craft Heritage
UID’s philosophy of design rooted in culture came alive on Day 3 through a diverse lineup of traditional craft workshops, where students explored:
- • Lipan Art
- • Blue Pottery
- • Warli Painting
- • Gond Art
- • Madhubani Painting
These hands-on experiences fostered an appreciation of indigenous art forms while sharpening students’ observational and manual skills.
Day 4: Creative Showcases & Design Thinking
The final day focused on showcasing student talents and collaborative design ideation. A Design Challenge tested their problem-solving skills in a group setting — culminating in presentations and reviews.
The day also featured departmental interactions, faculty introductions, and the much-anticipated “Spotlight” Talent Show, where students performed music, dance, poetry, and more.
Building a Community of Curious Creators
The UID induction programme went beyond orientation — it was a celebration of diversity, creativity, and collaboration. With a balance of academic orientation, cultural immersion, and personal expression, the program laid a strong foundation for students to begin their journey into the world of design.
