Urban Furniture Design & Making Workshop by LxS

The Department of Interior Design had an immersive ‘Urban furniture design and making’ workshop for the students of Masters in Interior and Experience Design. It was facilitated by Manuel De Heras, Director, and co-founder of LxS (Local.x.Society) design studio, Co-facilitated by Asst. Prof. Kaustav Kalyan Deb Burman and Workshop Head, Paras Parmar.

Students delved into the creation of a movable furniture piece at a full scale, crafted within a week. They explored the intricacies of CNC cutting and the versatility of plywood. The focus lay in designing a functional and adaptable seating structure that offered comfort, privacy, and shaded respite. This experience navigated the intersection of form and function, and the relevance of refined detailing. The culmination manifested in an innovative device, integrating practical solutions with a sculptural element that responded to the needs of modern flexible spaces.
